How to find secret formula of website profitability?

Written By admin On December 29th, 2008

One of the most important and incredibly underrated “secrets” of making the most of your web site is… testing. That’s right. It’s that simple. You should never rely on the admittedly “right” point of view on any solution, avoid being too emotional with your judgments, and avoid such logic as “It seems to me that this is that, thus, this is how it is should be”. Nope, that’s not right. Test everything, including “logical” points – keep improving your web site and increasing your profits.

Unfortunately, most webmasters do not follow that “testing & optimization path”. Everyone is looking for some precious secret Internet Profit Button, which, if found and pressed, can bring you thousands of dollars, daily. No matter how ridiculous it sounds – hundreds of people prefer to spend their time not for deriving income from their web sites, but just for being in a quest for searching such “get-rich-easily” programs. Too bad for them – such programs do not exist.

But well, actually, they do: and they are commonly called as “scam”. No, really! If there is demand for something, then there is offer for this. This general business market rule works there too. If there are hundreds and thousands of those, who are looking for Magic Buttons, I can bet that there are people who sell it.

But the funniest thing about it is that those scammers are building their websites without any magic buttons, but with good old proven methods: studying market demand, doing market analysis, developing their offers, planning, testing, analyzing results, making further optimization, etc. And the reason is simple: these are the only working methods, which work in any field or industry: from real estate to flowers-by-mail, from wireless technologies to cookery, from dating advices to dating web sites…

So, if you are into dating website softwares, here is your partial checklist for getting the most of your online business:

  • use as many reputable affiliate programs, as possible;
  • operate with at least two or even more web sites;
  • choose your domain names wisely;
  • make search engines optimization regularly (hire a professional, if you aren’t one);

Here are some more practical bits for you:

  • Do not forget about “title”, “description” and “keywords” tags. Fill them with appropriate content;
  • SEO tip: optimize your text and headings. They should be relevant to each other and contain keywords;
  • put some appealing content which can keep visitors on site for some time (eg: flash video), but be careful with that; do not try too hard;
  • efficiently use your traffic; add useful scripts like profile toplists or click exchanges;
  • cooperation means more opportunities; add links for fellow webmasters, so you could be of use to each other;
  • online bookmarks links aren’t just useful for your visitors; this is another way to increase your traffic & profit, so put it on your web site;
  • participating in several different affiliate programs? Be sure to add links, or banners, or images from them – you’ll instantly increase your profit;
  • Googla AdSense is your best friend; put AdSense ads on your site and make more money;
  • put e-mail subscription form and gather visitor profiles for further action; you can use them in many profitable ways, and this is a topic for another article.

You should build your site with one very important thing on your mind – it should always bring you profit. Even if your visitor didn’t click on any banner, or affiliate link, or profile – you can receive credits from dating banner network (such as Romance-net.com , for example) just for showing banners to visitors. In this case you can get additional ads for your web site (by gaining credits and exchanging it later into banner impressions) or cash (again, by gaining credits and then exchanging it into $$$ on Romance-net.com admin interface) – it depends upon your sale ratio selection on banner network you use.

And now, let’s get back to the very beginning. When you do all the above things – do not stop. Track the results, hits & visitors. Watch for what works and brings profit; and watch for those bits, which proved to be ineffective. Experiment all the time and concentrate on increasing your profit; no matter how small (in the beginning) or big ( a bit later :) your profit is.

    This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
